Count your blessings, not your problems

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200 people, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this. He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air.
Well, he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground, and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air.
My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who LOVE you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE. You are special - Don't EVER forget it."
If you do not pass this on, you may never know the lives it touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it can bring.
Count your blessings, not your problems.

The Secret

One day, one friend asked another,
"How is it that you are always so happy?
You have so much energy, and you never seem to get down."
With her eyes smiling, she said,
"I know the Secret.
I'll tell you all about it, but you have to promise to
share the Secret with others."
"The Secret is this:
All I do is live a simple life,
have some really good friends,
a happy family and enjoy nature.
I have learned most of the time
I don't need half of what I think I do.
With the above thoughts,
I learned the 'Secret' to a happy life."
The questioner's first thought was,
"That's too simple!"
But upon reflecting over her own life,
she recalled how she thought a bigger house
would make her happy, but it didn't.
She thought a better paying job
would make her happy, but it hadn't.
When did she realize her greatest happiness?
Sitting on the floor with her kids,
playing games, eating pizza or reading them a story.
Now you know it too!
And now I pass the Secret on to you.
Once you get it, would you please tell someone the secret too?

On Children(An excerpt from "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran)

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said,"Speak to us of Children". And he said:
Your children are not your children,
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but are not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your chilrenas living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, andHe bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far
Let your bending in th earcher's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
So he loves also the bow that is stable.
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where -- " said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.
" -- so long as I get somewhere," Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."
